Munnar – Keerthika Venkatesh

Munnar can be called ‘the Darjeeling of Kerala’ so we planned a trip to Munnar with the help of Tent N Trek.

Two days after the trip started in the morning at 10 o’clock. A place called suriyanalli where we all were picked up by the camp advisor. We had breakfast at a restaurant as soon as we got down. They served authentic South Indian dishes on banana leaves. The food was tasty and the price was very affordable. We all were asked to have things that would digest well as we were about to go on a jeep ride for approximately 2 hrs. This bumpy jeep safari ride cutting through tougher terrains is equally exciting as it is adventurous. When the destination is Munnar. The jeep safari activity will take you on a bumpy ride covering places of Kolukkumala. By afternoon we reached our campsite. The lunch was good and served hot for the wintry climate. Later in the evening, we walked to see the sunset at the viewpoint. The sunsets reflecting off of the glass-like waters were fantastic. After the sunset we walked back to the camp hot tea was served with snacks. We started to play a lot of games near the campsite. The night session started with the campfire, continued by singing, dancing, and enjoying. Munnar sleeps early, we had dinner and slept early for the next day as it is going to be physically demanding. The second day was interesting. We woke up early morning at 5.00 a.m to go for a trek at the kolukkumala Jaguar viewpoint.

Which hardly takes 30 min from the campsite. That was my first trekking experience. Nature was at its best so we all could not resist from taking pictures and not being able to return from there. Sometimes nature is all that you need. We started our way back to our campsite and got ready and we were about to visit the tea factory. The world’s highest tea estate at over 8000 ft above sea level, which owns the region’s oldest tea factory established in 1930 by a Scottish planter. It boasts of the world’s highest grown orthodox tea. We felt the aroma of tea while we walked along with the estate. We came back to the campsite to have lunch. And finally, our trip advisor dropped us at the powerhouse. From there we had to make arrangements to reach home. This was one of my most favorite experiences fully organized, full of entertainment, and peace.

Thanks to tent n trek for one such experience looking forward to such amazing adventure trips.

With loads of memories,
